How you pay

This tool costs 250 credits per file. Credits are prepaid and one credit is one US dollar250 credits is $250.00, with no subscription, no monthly fee and no minimum order.

You buy credits with a card or a PayPal account on the credits page, in packs — the larger packs carry a bonus, so a shop doing several files a week pays less per file. Credits do not expire and every movement, spent or returned, is listed in your account. Before any payment goes through — buying credits, or spending them here — you tick a box to accept the payment terms, and they are shown in full at that moment rather than hidden behind a link.

If a job fails after you have paid, the credits go back to your balance automatically and a refund line appears in your history. You are never charged for a file you did not receive.

How the NavKal .zenc decrypt works

NavKal saves its files as .zenc, and a .zenc is not a read — it is a wrapped, compressed and encrypted container. Open one in a hex editor and there is nothing recognisable in it: no addresses, no maps, no strings. Every tool that works on a Navistar or MaxxForce file wants what is inside, not the wrapper.

This tool unwraps it and hands you the file inside. Sometimes that is already a straight ECU image. Just as often it is something else: a recording of the flash session itself, the sequence of write commands NavKal would have sent to the module, with each byte rotated so it does not look like anything. In that case the read has to be rebuilt from those write commands — regions reassembled in address order, with the gaps left as erased memory rather than zeroes, because that is what the module actually contains.

You get back a plain file you can open in any editor: the Siemens SID read for a MaxxForce DT, N9 or N13, or an Intel HEX or XML document when that is what the container held. If you then need the checksum recalculated, that is the Siemens SID tool on this site, which is the same family.

Nothing about the original is guessed at: the name NavKal recorded when it packed the file is stored inside the container, and it is shown back to you along with what kind of container it turned out to be.

What we have actually tested. Verified on 200 real NavKal containers sampled across four workshop archives, covering all four kinds: straight reads, both dialects of download transcript, and Intel HEX. 199 unwrapped and rebuilt into a container that unwraps to exactly the same bytes. The one that did not was truncated on disk — no tool can read that file.

Questions

What comes out — a .nav or something else?

Usually a .nav: the plain ECU read, ready for any editor. If the container held an Intel HEX or an XML document you get that instead, with the right extension. Either way the format check tells you the file is a NavKal container before anything is charged.

Can I flash what comes out?

Not directly — this gives you the read, not a flash file. To go back to a file NavKal will use, edit the read and then rebuild the container with the NavKal .zenc rebuild tool on this site, which needs your original .zenc as the mould.

Does it need NavKal installed, or a licence?

No. Nothing from Navistar is involved and nothing is installed. Upload the file, get the read back.

Do you keep a copy of my file?

No. The file is processed in memory and never written to disk. Nothing is stored, nothing is indexed, and the result only exists in your browser once it comes back. Close the tab and it is gone.

What happens if it fails?

The credits go back to your balance automatically and a refund line appears in your credit history. You are only ever charged for a file you actually received.

Do I need to install anything?

No. It runs on our server, so it works from a workshop laptop, a machine in the yard, or a computer that has never had manufacturer software on it. There is no licence, no dongle and nothing to keep alive.
